Recommended Posts

We are looking for a loving, dedicated and enthusiastic live-out nanny to join our family. We require full time care for our daughter five days a week (the hours are 08:30-18:30) - she is sweet and rather funny 16 month old, full of curiosity and with a quirky sense of humour. We would love for her to play and learn at home and of course attend activities and play dates. As well as swim! She loves books and is learning to colour and she has some rather solid dance moves too (think good shoulder action)! We have a private pool for summer which is lovely as well. The role is in Nunhead/Telegraph Hill and is a two minute walk from Queen?s Road Peckham station.

What we are looking for:

- professionalism

- DBS check

- long-term experience with a family

- someone who has chosen childcare as a career because they are passionate about children

- first aid

- experience with babies

- ability to cook (organic - predominantly plant based)

- tidiness

- high standards for the outward appearance of their sole charge (hair tidy - clothing clean)

- experience working with professional families in a full time capacity

- creativity and interest in development

- interest in music and dance

- someone to join the family

- occasional babysitting

We are not interested in:

- nanny share

- nanny plus own child

- child-minding

Hi my name is Sharon and I am interested in the role.i have worked in a nursery for 19 years with children from the ages of 9 months to 5 years. I leavt the nursery so i could continue working with children in a smaller environment. I worked in a nannyshare. Which I have enjoyed very much unfortunately one of the families moved out of london. So now I only do pick ups. I am looking for a job to full fill my day being with children whom I enjoy working with. I have my CV if you would like me to send it.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
