This is a plus+ ride starting at 9.30 instead of 10am and ending at 1pm instead of 12noon. That longer time gives the opportunity to go further and have a coffee stop at half-way. Lots of East Dulwich cycle commuters and would-be commuters are going into the City or to the Kings Cross area. If you want to know how to do it, this ride is for you.

It starts at Canada Water which is on the Overground and but this Saturday the Overground is not working or at least that's what the Journey Planner seems to say. It suggests taking a bus instead. The starting point at Canada Water is the plaza/open space outside the library. It's got a view of the water, the library and the station so if you can get close to all three and look about you, you will be nearly there. If you get lost you can phone or text organiser Bruce Lynn on 07729 279 945 and he will know where he is.

Werner (who led the Boxing Day ride)will be leading again. He's keen to get us fit again after the seasonal excesses. The group will go north from Canada Water via Southwark Bridge and quietly through the City, using CS1 to cross Great Eastern St and Old St safely. Once in Hackney they will pick up Quietway 2 and follow it to Cycle Superhighway 6 and St Pancras where there will be a coffee stop before turning for home.

The pace will be easy. The atmosphere cheerful. No need to book. The ride is free for all. These rides are organised by Bruce and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. SC is the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for safer cycling in London. Everything we do is free and open to all. No need to belong to LCC or live in Southwark.

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
