Hello!

I am an experienced, resourceful and effective tutor who specialises in English and Creative Writing.

I currently tutor from 11+ through to A-Level English Literature. My current students are in Dulwich, Sydenham, Tulse Hill and Herne Hill.

I have a deep and instinctive love of arts and humanities and believe that there should be no limit of access for young people. I try to instil the excitement I have with engaging with texts, with a wider sense of understanding of the cultural and societal value of the arts.

Please PM or text on +447758511554 to discuss your child?s needs. References are available from current clients.

Best wishes,

Liz

Tutor recommendation:

Liz Sands has been tutoring my 14 year old son in English over this past year. We were looking for some extra support in a subject my son felt a little weak in. Liz's support and encouragement has been fantastic. It's wonderful in a large family (and huge secondary school) to have some 1 to 1 attention and feedback. Liz worked through both language and literature GCSE skills and questions, and my son has really improved and we have just heard now that he has achieved his aim to be moved from set 2 to set 1. Liz has made this possible and been such a calm and constructive influence. Highly recommend her services.

    • Anyone upgraded their TV for Christmas?! I'm looking for a smallish Smart TV I can use with earbuds. Not more than 56cm high and  25cm deep. A 26" one used to fit.  Thanks!
    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
    • This is very true. For some people, not even just the elderly, their pet/s may be their most important companion.
