SAVE THE ONE O'CLOCk CLUB!

Mytime Active will be closing the Crystal Palace One O'Clock Club VERY SOON because they have decided to sub-lease the property to another kind of child care facility which will result in the loss of this fantastic facility and it being replaced with a totally different kind of child care organisation... It may be a private nursery and therefore not open to all. Mytime Active is a charitable trust and they haven't given the place a chance to help itself. They have never done fund raising at all ot attempted tonsave the Club.

As someone who has had the pleasure of using this amazing place I want it to stay open to serve future generations of children as it has done for the last 30 years...

Please please sign the petition and come to the Crystal Palace One O'clock club on Wednesday 18th between 1pm and 2.30pm or Thursday 19th 9.30am to 11.30am as the people who run the club are coming to talk to parents about the closure and get views from us as well. Please tell all your friends as we really want to keep this amazing place open. Thanks x

There are several things you can to do support this amazing place -

1. Come to the meetings with the representatives from Myime Active and tell them why we want the facility to stay open. There are two meetings next week, one on Wednesday 18th at 1pm-2.30pm and one on Thursday 19th at 9.30am-11.30am. You can bring your children as normal but PLEASE PLEASE come to the meeting if you have ever been to the club with your children

2. Post your experiences of the club on this forum or the facebook page so we can take these to show Mytime Active next week.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
