new sash window fitted- is this how it should look??

Asking for advice please - we had one new sash window fitted as part of our renovations and it seems very loose in the frame - I can move the bottom window side to side. Is this loose or is this how they fit?

We had our other sash windows replaced some years ago and none of them do this - they operate with a spiral balance system rather than the traditional cord system that the new one has. The builder tells us the one he has put in is better quality but it doesn't feel like it!

It also had a huge draught from one area where the two windows meet and overlap. I could put my finger through the gap. They have now put draught excluder into where the gap was - I've attached a picture - is this what it's meant to look like??

Hard totell from picture but does look like meeting rail chamfer has been trimmed back too far on style and from parting bead.

You should be able to move sash very slightly left to right but not a lot .

Thank you! What woyld you suggest is the best solution. Can it be adequately repaired or does that frame need to be replaced?

Again hard to tell from this picture, but if it?s a case that you can rattle the bottom sash in and out towards the outside then the inside staff beads need to be set tighter to sash.

It does look from your picture that some type of draught proofing has been installed on the meeting rail so if you are getting bad draught from the two ends where cut short then you could ask them to replace draught strip with longer strip spanning from left parting bead to right parting bead ( that?s the two beads that separate the two sashes , but in fairness to them it?s very hard to tell from this one pic.
