pebbles
I've just got a parking fine but I think I have grounds to appeal as i paid but need to know how to go about it.I parked in Wandsworth and phoned the number to pay by credit card. They recognised my phone number and said that i have now paid for my parking and when I want to stop it to phone the number again. They didn't mentioned my registration number in the recorded message. At 5.30 (which is the end of the parking time) I received a text saying that my credit had been stopped. In the text it did say the reg number. It was the reg number of our courtesy car that we had in December. I parked in Camden and registered it then. I didn't realise that the same parking people were involved and as they didn't mention my reg number I didn't realise that it wasn't my car that was registered (if that makes sense).I think i have a case - do you? and if so how do i go about arguing my case? Many thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21580-parking-fine-help-please/ Share on other sites
the-e-dealer
I think you paid to park the Courtesy Car. Another reason to object to the pay by phone method. But I doubt they will let you off. pebbles
Yup, I did pay for courtesy car. But as they didn't mention a registration number in the recorded message how was I know to know which car. i.e. if i was a 2 car family etc? Surely they should have told me the reg number for me to say yes or no? the-e-dealer
As its probably a new or at least fairly new problem you might be able to argue that they didn't make it clear what Car you had paid for. Me ? I am afraid if I was betting I'd bet on it being upheld , but try if you have the time and patience! I'm sure many would be grateful if you win.I got fined because it was a hot day and my ticket fell off the windscreen onto the floor of the car. I won but it wasn't easy! Loz
The council will automatically dismiss your appeal. The Parking & Traffic Appeals Service may be more sympathetic.Try here for some good info: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/parking-ticket-appeals Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21580-parking-fine-help-please/#findComment-516171 Share on other sites
KidKruger
With these phone systems they recognise you by your mobile no, noally when I use them they refer to my car reg. and ask me to confirm if the pmt is for that car or an alternative car (at which point they'll ask for the teg of your alternative car).If it's windy or busy nearby sometimes you cannot hear the automated phone service, this may be your only possible defence. pebbles
Thanks. I really and truly don't think they did say the reg number however I'm now beginning to doubt myself. I'm hoping as I have proof that I paid they will realise I'm telling the truth. Fingers crossed Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21580-parking-fine-help-please/#findComment-516204 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Why not just call the number now, and see if you get an option to change the registration? ClareC
This is a good site. http://www.pepipoo.comSounds as though you have a good case for the fine to be dropped. Dealing with these people is a painful process unfortunately. Good luck x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21580-parking-fine-help-please/#findComment-516302 Share on other sites
