school nurseries - what are the criteria and when do they usually announce places?

Anyone know if criteria is same as primary school admissions? Or is more first come, first served ie whenever you got on the waiting list? I heard from Goose Green they'd let people know re places in June - is that fairly standard? trying to plan childcare for after the summer...

I believe it's a mixture of age and distance

And yes, they let you know about June (though could be rather later before you find out if am or pm)

If there are any spaces left after all 3 yos have been allocated, they will take the oldest ones waiting I believe (mid year admissions)
