I think this had a lot to do with the Judge/Jury's attitude while considering the case - sledgehammer to crack a nut, it looked vindictive rather than just.

And the only real proof would mean believing a NOTW journo. over Harry-"What's-that-mate?-?20?-?50?-I-dunno-they-all-look-the-same-to-me-I'm-hopeless-with-money"-Redknapp.

Given the way they defended the money (not as pay) you'd need a tax lawyer to tell then what tax exactly should be payable!
