SR
Congratulations!,Lots of good tips here. Be kind to each other, everyday acts to help make the other one's life more enjoyable or manageable are a must.I don't agree with an earlier comment though that you have to decide who's career takes priority. While this works for some (most?) couples this isn't how it works for us. We had our baby quite late, are both earning a similar salary and both enjoy our careers. We share childcare responsibilities fairly evenly. One picks up at the nursery, one drops off, both have a day off work every second week. It's alternate turns if there is a childcare emergency. So if neither wants to give up the career it's still doable but in this model it doesn't really work if one is going full on career i.e. constant travelling and/or overtime. esme
All good advice, I have been with my now husband for more than half my life (scary eh!)... I find honesty key, along with a sense of humour and no matter how bad things get always look for the external reasons for any major arguments or rocky patches, there will always be something (or someone if you're very unlucky). The grass is not greener so always remember that too and obviously marriage can sometimes be "samey" but it's also fabulous, you're spending your life with someone and probably making your own little family which is just unbeatable, they eventually become a part of you and that is something that should always be treated as the most precious thing ever. Congrats, welcome to the world of smug marrieds :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21736-marriage-tips-please/page/2/#findComment-519923 Share on other sites
