Hello,

I need to send my baby to nursery in september and Cherry Tree nursery and Excel nursery are the only two that actually answer any of my emails or calls.

They both offer her a place but i will need to put down quite a big deposit to secure her space.

I am new to all of this and I am not sure what I was suppose to look for or which questions i should have asked; so I was wondering if anyone got any experience positive or not with these nurseries.

thank you in advance

Look at the ofsted reports and search the internet for lists of questions (i think i found a list on mumsnet but that was a few years ago). There are things to consider including taking shoes off in the baby area and what food is served. Main thing though is to visit the nursery, you will get a feeling re whether you would be comfortable to leave your baby there or not. If there are other nurseries that you are interested in but that aren't answering your calls, pop in and try to make an appointment. Popular nurseries have waiting lists but you have to get on them and be a bit pushy, the main thing is to find the best place for your baby. good luck.

Hi, definitely visit them on more than one occasion. Not sure if you saw the post that has been removed ftom

The form from someone who works at cherry tree...it was not very complimentary about the manager. I have my little one down for excel but also have some reservations too. Do pm me if you want more details etc

Childcare is really difficult to organise around here but I do feel that it is not always the most polished or expensive nursery that may be right for your little one. Gut instinct has a massive part to play too. Good luck

My daughter is attending the Excel setting in Sternhall Lane and is very happy there. I agree go and visit the nursery and get a feel for yourself ask as many questions as possible to put your mind at ease, I did and the Manager was very helpful in answering everything I needed to know. Even if you make a list before hand so you don't forget to ask anything. Good luck in your search hope you find a nursery where your little one will be happy in.

    • Politicians, eh. They must wonder why they bother trying to help other people by standing for election. Well, the ones who don't go into politics to make money from backhanders and dodgy connections and speeches about Peppa Pig. But then mostly those ones don't get found out.

Shall we have a wager on which estate agent she went to? 😉 Anyone also want a wager on whether this story was leaked by someone in Southwark council?
