The going home for the weekend song thread...come on you groovey foookers

Recommended Posts

It's Valentine's weekend so time to get out some of the very best slow dance lovers tracks from deep within the soul vault.

Kashif, "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart"

Randy Brown, "The Next Best Thing To Being There"

Teddy Pendegrass, "Come Go with Me"

Storm Eunice hits London and so far it's not looking too bad.

But here we go with the next Going home for the Weekend tune, it's one heck of a a banger of a track, thanks Stretch for sharing this one with me.

Double Exposure, "Everyman (Has To Carry His Own Weight"

So another pair of two from two "Going home for the weekend" tunes. The first funnily enough popped up on my You Tube screen and what a track it is, taken from the 1973 album Black Byrd, by Donald Byrd, Sit back and enjoy this one, it's so good actually set it on repeat.

"Where Are We Going?"

And then another track from the ever reliable Bobby Womack with, "Across 110th Street". Two wonderful tracks that go all the way back to 1972 and 73. That's when they produced real music.

So it's the early hours of Friday morning and I've been down the vaults pulling some more "Going home for the weekend" tracks. First of two bangers from Diana Ross and 40+ years since it was released, "I'm coming out", what a vocal, WoW.

That's followed closely by the 1979 release of "The boss", both tracks still sound so fresh today.

Another weekend is just around the corner, so it's time for some "going home for the weekend" tunes.

From all the way back to 1983, The Funkmasters, "Its Over"

And then even further back to 1979, this time it's a Roy Ayres tune, "Don't stop the feeling"

    • I booked Nico based on the reviews on here and wasn't disappointed. He called me back promptly, diagnosed what was wrong with a leak under our kitchen sink and a toilet making odd noises, turned up when he said he would and fixed both problems. Both jobs were more complicated than expected due to our house and plumbing being old, but he stayed until he was happy the jobs were done to a high standard and both problems were fixed. We have had so many issues in the past with things leaking water or malfunctioning as soon as a plumber leaves, so wouldn't hesitate to book him again and will definitely recommend him to anyone needing work done.
    • It’s absolutely the right place.  It would’ve been placed in the drawing room, but that room has been demolished so the lounge is perfect.
