social cycle ride March 9th 10am start

Recommended Posts

This is the usual two-hour, easy-paced ride on mostly quiet streets and paths. It starts and finishes in Deal Porter Square next to Canada Water Library and opposite CW Station (SE16 7AR). Canada Water station is on the overground and has lovely lifts capable of taking three bikes at a time. Peckham Rye is on the Overground and East Dulwich is walk-on the connection to the Overground at Peckham Rye is straight across the platform.

The plan is to ride to Greenwich, cross the Thames via the foot tunnel, then ride upstream to Tower Bridge, probably using the ?canals? through Wapping. Finally back along the Bermondsey riverside to Canada Water. Riding Tower Bridge is not as bad as you might think -- the speed limit is enforced with comprehensive severity and therefore obeyed ? as a result the traffic is slow, and there are no junctions. The bridge is too wide to overtake cyclists and as a result it's actually rather straightforward.

There are lots of points of interest en route ? Deptford riverside, Cutty Sark, Canary Wharf, St Katherines Dock and the route map is at https://goo.gl/DhhUOD. To join in just turn up. For queries text organiser Bruce Lynn on 07729 279 945.

These rides are organised by Bruce and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign and all our rides and events are posted here: https://lcc.org.uk/events/thames-loop-southwark-healthy-ride-2?esid=14673. If it isn't here, it isn't our ride and it won't be insured by us.

    • Yes, we have a Casio CT-S100 we no longer need, except I dont think we have the headphones any more. It has a USB connection. £50? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7333639
    • Thank you! She is both spayed and microchipped, and reported missing on Petlog and with the vets.   She normally never goes out the front, certainly for never more than 10-15 minutes, so this is definitely new territory for her. There is lots of dense foliage across the road so there are plenty of places she could be hiding if she is spooked, so we are hoping she will come back when she is calm. The weather isn't helping, she never goes out in the rain. Thank you again!
    • Hi, Have you been letting her out the front door onto the street or would this be a first & therefore unfamiliar with the area? Does she respond to a name & is she spayed & microchipped? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes & will of course be looking our for her. I hope you are reunited with her soon. If not already, notify your street & surrounding streets (find out if they have Whatsapp groups) Dox will print & deliver free missing posters https://www.doxdirect.com/help/free-missing-pet-posters/ Call her at dusk & dawn when street & foot traffic is at its lowest.
