forda21
Hi,I am moving to to Dulwich in the next couple of months and from September will be looking for after school childcare for my 5 year old son. I have been living abroad for 6 years so am totally clueless as to the going hourly/weekly rate and any guidance you can offer would be really appreciated.I will also be looking for occasional evening babysitting and am curious as to what I can expect to pay - here in NY its an hourly rate of $15-20 an hour, plus tip, plus cab fare home....makes for an expensive night out and I'm hoping it may not be quite as bad at home! Thanks very much in advance. womanofdulwich
There is a big difference between after school care- 3.30 to 7pm say ( Maybe ?10 an hour) and babysitting ?7-?9 an hour - the latter being when child is hopefully asleep. Warning the 3.30 plus slot is harde to fill.Better off with au pair if you can fit one in. treehugger
A sixth form student from Alleyns or Jags would jump at this. Put an ad in the window of the newsagent in Dulwich village or track down a copy of the inter schools advertiser.
