Spoke to A&E Elkins today ,

apparently as there are no restrictions on parking

They are hoping for good will from residents

So today neighbours and myself moved cars and spaces been

filled my other motorists 😡

As no containers in sight

So contrary to letters you can park outside your house

If your short on goodwill 🤣

They are carrying out works to the block of flats on the bottom of Adys Road (1-11) and will need space for a large skip and barriers directly out the front of the block and containers which will go on Oglander Rd. In total this is around 11/15 spaces and they hope the work will be done within 4 months (but didn't sound too confident of that).

Given the exacerbated parking issues since the DH CPZ came in suggest people email the council if they have concerns Richard Livingstone is the Cllr responsible for highways. [email protected]

As twinhunters says they are hoping for resident cooperation to clear enough space so are going to try putting barriers in vacated spots until they have secured enough spaces to install the skips / containers.

    • I imagine Franco Manca's business dropped off quite a bit when Yard Sale opened (though isn't Yard Sale delivery only?) But in any case, both of those are chains.
    • Thanks. I'll call them shortly as I could get there without the car.  That's good of Sainsburys! We've done the apple pie and tart thing, an ongoing muesli thing and the coleslaw thing - just not sure what effect all the sugars are having on our digestive tracts.
    • One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it
    • There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first, as they don't actually mention fresh fruit on their website? But apples aren't that perishable. Drop off seven days a week 9 - 5. Be warned if you are going by car, parking can be very difficult, easiest if there are two of you so one person can take the food in while the other can move the car if necessary.
