Ruth_Baldock
Where is good to go for a nice drive and then a nice stroll once you get there? It'll be me doing the driving, and can't drive on motorways, just A roads, as I am challenged in the whole having a license malarky (I am taking my seventh and last crack at my practical test in April).Nowhere too far, like Carlile or Hull or newquay, please. Thanks! Lochie
I am limited like you but because I have a nonsensical phobia of driving on motorways. However it has meant i've found a few nice trips to the countryside via A and B roads only. Would suggest driving to Ashdown Forest area. Lots of nice pubs there and big country walks:http://www.ashdownforest.org/home/index.phpYou also go via home of Winnie Pooh which is nice place to stop if you've got kids with you:http://www.just-pooh.com/ashdown.htmlBest way to go is through Bromley to Westerham, then take the B2026 which has some lovely countryside and pubs on the way. All this is within 1.5 hours drive. Also would recommend going to Chartwell - the gardens are open at this time of year. Absolutely beautiful countryside views from the massive gardens. Probably a good one for fine weather though. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/chartwell/Have fun Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22036-something-for-the-weekend/#findComment-523841 Share on other sites

Ruffler
Down House (Charles Darwin's home) is an easy drive away with a choice of good walks in the area.
