Recommendation for plumber - John powers

I'd also like to recommend John Powers. He replaced the pump in our boiler at the end of January and returned last week to replace a part that another plumber had missed! He is professional, reliable and reasonably priced. I am delighted to find a reliable tradesman who does exactly what he says he will do. I will definitely be using him in the future.

Thank you, John.

another recommendation for John Powers - we got his details off the forum and he serviced our boiler end of last year. When we came home a few weeks ago to no heating (obviously on one of the nights when it was down to zero degrees!) he came out the next day. He identified a problem with a valve and used a temporary fix to get the heating started again. He noticed the boiler looked fairly new and told us to check the warranty as he thought we should get the new part for free - he was happy to do it for us but that would obviously cost us. Turns out it was under a five year warranty (the boiler was put in by the last owners but luckily they'd given us the paperwork) and we were able to get the part replaced for free by the boiler company. As an added bonus John didn't charge us for the call out either.

Another recommendation for John Powers, one of his guys (Gary) came out yesterday (on short notice) to sort a leak in the bathroom, and whilst it was sorted there were further issues which meant he had to come out again today. Problem now solved and very reasonably too. All steps were explained in plenty of detail and he was very polite.
So happy with our new boiler installation, John Powers informed us of the London boiler cash back scheme and provided a great service in installing. Fast and efficient team. A very nice, honest and hard working man. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Another recommendation for John Powers. He's done a boiler repair and service for us and we've been very pleased with his work. When our boiler broke down he managed to fit us in for a repair within 24 hours at what must be the very busiest time of year. He was very pleasant to have around and explained everything to me clearly, which was appreciated. We will definitely use John again for any heating or plumbing work.

Another recommendation for John. He fitted a complete new boiler for us and was really good at talking through our various options. He's also done smaller things for us like service etc. Efficient and friendly so highly recommended.

    • My husband is currently a full-time carer for our two disabled children, and he’s keen to get back into paid work where he can fit it around our family needs. He’s immediately available and looking for local handyman work — from snagging and DIY jobs to gardening or general fixing-up. He’s capable, practical, and reliable, with plenty of hands-on experience restoring and maintaining, including with heritage/listed properties. If you have a to-do list you never quite get to, or need help with those annoying finishing touches, he’d be happy to help. Please drop him a message if you’d like to chat or check availability. 07968345884

Be aware, the trade value on your car is really low as no one wants to do the work & it's often only when it reaches near scrap value that someone (else) is willing to invest (their money) to try and fix. So if you're willing to front the money and fix your car that (you know) then that is most likely your best option (also understanding that it is outrageous that you should have to replace a CVT gearbox after 50K). If that isn't appealing consider a new Skoda Fabia 1.0 (Auto) on finance if you can't afford cash, it will last 20yrs.... (and avoid cars from the Stellantis group)
    • If you are referring to me, I was using my mobile. Just quoting the post I was replying to would have made no sense without showing my original post as well. I wouldn't have been able to do that on a "real PC" either, assuming I carried one around with me everywhere. It's nothing to do with what I'm using, it's the way the forum is set up to quote posts. I did insert a screenshot showing the keyboard by mistake.
    • You have to book for the Sunday roasts in advance. I have bad memories of once going for a circular  walk around Downe and then trying to eat. The Queens Head staff (and customers)  looked at us as if we were mad for attempting to get a meal without booking. The other pub in the village  reeked of bleach.  We had to  drive around in search of a meal, and ended up at some large pub whose name and location  I have thankfully forgotten. All I remember is the food, which was truly awful.
