I used to live on Homestall Road and was told that it was an original road/track that led to Homestall Farm that was located on what is now Peckham Rye Park until the late 19th Century.

Why it was never paved I'm not sure but I guess it might have something to do with Beechcroft Reservoir (or the Aquarius Golf Club as it's now better known) which was constructed at around about the same time that the farm was purchased by the Council.

The houses are all circa 1930's and built at the same time as those on the Eastern stretches of Colyton, Mundania, Therapia, Marmora and Scutari Roads. They're fairly typical for the period. They're not as old fashioned as some of the bigger Victorian properties in the area ;)

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
