MarkT
nxjen, does it make you feel good to spoil someone's bit of fun? If the date is significant, then the o.p. is somewhat obscure. However if it is exactly as it appears, then you have clearly fooled yourself. Give yourself a round of applause.MarkT Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/222089-jellied-eels/#findComment-1327572 Share on other sites
nxjen
One person?s ?bit of fun? is often at the expense of other people. ?Can?t you take a joke??ETA. Besides, half the fun of April Fool?s jokes is to try and spot them and call the originator out. Loutwo
Manzes is brilliant. A great south London success story. Been trading for well over a hundred years. They even sell their pies online. Love pie and mash, not a huge fan of jellied eels though. Louisa. So I thought it must be closed on Mondays. Serves me right for making assumptions. Not that I'll be going. I went to the one in Walthamstow some years back. Afraid I left most of mine. One of my friends was so sickened by the smell she had to go and wait outside the shop :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/222089-jellied-eels/#findComment-1327731 Share on other sites

nxjen
The Manzes in Tower Bridge Road is even older. It opened in in 1892 and is thought to be the oldest surviving pie and mash shop Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/222089-jellied-eels/#findComment-1327808 Share on other sites
Seabag
I used to love pie & mash. I lived 5 minutes away from Arments for a number of years.Double, double with burnt tops. Add some white pepper and the spicy vinegar, so delicious. Specially if you?re in the throws of a hangover from the night before. But sadly, I get the worst crippling indigestion if I eat it now. So it?s a thing of the past for me, along with cucumber, and red or green peppers. It?s weird how as you get older, the things you can and can?t eat change. As for eels, not my favourite, but I do eat them in china town sometimes.Ah, fond memories of those day at Armements.
