Recommended Posts

Saturday 6th April 2019 10:00am to 12 noon

This ride starts in Dulwich Park at the Dulwich Clock Cafe SE21 7BQ at 10am and finishes two hours later in the same place. In between the group will go up to Horniman Museum then down to Forest Hill station. They use the underpass to get to Perry Vale and join the National route 21 (aka the Waterlink Way) at Bell Green.

NR 21 follows the river Ravensbourne out into south London and the group will use quiet streets to get to Beckenham Place Park which is Lewisham's largest open space, more than 237 acres, surrounding Beckenham Place Mansion. The mansion is a true Goergian beauty (see pic)open to the public as an arts, cultural and community centre.

The group will come back via the Waterlink Way -- this time staying on it to Ladywell Fields and then heading homewards via quiet back streets and Camberwell New Cemetery. This is one of a series of Saturday morning easy-paced rides suitable for all types of cyclist. Everyone welcome. Everything is free.

These rides are organised and led by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists which is the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Other rides and events organised through the LCC are here: https://lcc.org.uk/events. They are all free and open to all.

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
