Coach Beth
That sounds very distressing for yourself and your child. My son goes to Goose Green School - he is in year 2 now and we haven't had any problems with bullying at all. The school is quite firm about behaviour and has a strict no-bullying policy. You can see the policy (called the Behaviour Policy) if you go to http://www.goosegreenprimaryschool.org/policies.asp Do check with the school your child is currently at again about the no-bullying policy - it's a standard document. Maybe if you speak to the headteacher of the school your child currently is at, they can help more - it would be good for you to have a meeting with both the Headteacher and the classteacher certainly. If you are considering transfering to Goose Green School from your current school, do contact the Goose Green and arrange to meet the Headteacher. I know another parent who has recently decided to transfer her child out of another school into Goose Green School and she met the head of Goose Green last week last week. Her child is now starting next week so the process can happen quite quickly. mrs.lotte
I have a 7 year old boy in Y2 at GG. I think it would be a rare child who didn't pick up bumps and bruises during playtime but if your son doesn't want to go to school then it doesn't sound like a simple case of boys will be boys. My lad can be boisterous at times and sensitive at others so I guess he's pretty average. He has always been content at school and happy to go. I'm certain that the school has a bullying policy, I thought all schools had to. They have friendship spots where you can go if you don't have anyone to play with and someone will come over and ask you to join in with them, they also have play facilitators who organise games etc. discipline and respect for one another is very important and bad behaviour is dealt with swiftly. Sorry to hear that your boy has had a rough time, heartbreaking for you too. I wish you well Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22283-goose-green/#findComment-527429 Share on other sites
Jessie
Hi Neela,This all sounds very familiar - my son was at reception at a school where he was bullied and was bringing home 'pink slips' regularly - inexplicable bruises, bumps to the head. All the time. The teaching staff didn't seem to have the time or resources to deal with the problem, so it was with great relief for both of us when he moved to Goose Green. I must say, the school's been brilliant for him. What happened to him has obviously left more than a physical mark, but the patience and dedication of the teaching staff has restored mine and his faith in primary schooling. Good luck, and I look forward to exchanging 'good mornings' etc with you in June.Best wishes,Jess Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22283-goose-green/#findComment-527482 Share on other sites
