If you are the parent(s) of a singlton* child of any age, please come along to our next playdate at mine in Brockley (SE4, just east of Nunhead). :)

We are tentatively planning our next playdate for Saturday 24th March, with some easter/spring arts activity for babies, toddlers, and older children too.

Please let me know if you're interested. As always, you can PM me for directions, information etc. xx

*The Only Child Playgroup is mainly a playgroup for singleton children, but we're happy to make exceptions, for example in the case of step families where there are no biological siblings, or if there is a very large age gap between siblings.

Hi all! Looks like Sat 24th March is a good day to meet. How does everyone feel about the time? If I say 1-4:30pm, then people with toddlers can have plenty of time to plan around naps. I'll have some drinks and snacks for everyone. We'll be doing some arts and crafts, and maybe a video for the older children too? PM me for more details! xx

Just a note to confirm that we're on for this Saturday 24th March at mine (PM me for address etc)! :)

We'll be decorating eggs and eating chocolates and toasting the fine weather. Indeed if it's as nice as today, we might even have a picnic!

Hope to see you and your little ones on Saturday anytime from 1-4:30pm ish. xx

Hello all you parents of singletons! Bring your little uns round ours for Easter egg dyeing, then take your bucket and spade up to Hilly Fields at the end of my road to enjoy the sunshine. PM me for more details. xx

Thanks so much to everyone who came last weekend! If you couldn't make it to this one, hope to see you at the next one. Also, if anyone wants to meet on a weekday sometime, let me know and I'll start organising. Or if anyone would like to host, I'm happy to lend a hand too.

Cheers all :)

    • It's also possible that someone is hand feeding foxes and encouraging them by this to approach others. I have heard of foxes attacking young children (if only anecdotally) but not adults. They do seem to attack cats.
    • I've noticed the foxes are very frisky at the moment, it's mating season. Perhaps it was a male fox who saw you as a danger to his vixen and wanted to see you off.
    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
