Cycle route to Marathon preparations Sat April 27th 10am

Recommended Posts

Not Marathon in Greece but THE Marathon this Sunday. This ride will look at how London is getting ready. Not getting in the way.

It starts in Peckham Square which is between Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, SE15 5JR. The most obvious landmark is probably the Arch and picture is attached. The ride starts at 10am and finishes two hours later in the same place. Riders will be making their way over to the starting line of the Marathon (not the start which is on Sunday) and there's an alternative meeting place at St Mary's Gate into Greenwich Park at the end of King William Walk at around 10.35am.

This is the usual easy-paced ride on mostly quiet streets and paths. This London Marathon-themed ride will be lead by Simon (veteran of many London marathons) who will talk about about this famous event. The route isn't finalised yet but provisionally it will be

    • Yes I do have a vague idea of what's going on in the world, thanks Sephiroth, for explaining it all out to me though. The point I was trying to make, rather badly, because I'm busy and shouldn't be on here, is that I'm sure Jazzer didn't used to be this extreme. Either he's moved into wind-up territory, which people do do on here to keep themselves entertained, or he's just moving further along a spectrum as he gets older, which many people also do.
    • Thank you for responding. I’m Carl Salawa’s little sister. I was nearly 8 when the incident happened. It’s still a very painful and sensitive topic in my family, so I never really asked too many questions growing up, but what I do know is this: Carl had just turned 18 and was on his way home that evening after spending time with his girlfriend and a small group of friends. The police claimed he jumped to his death, but his friends and some residents said he was being chased by police around the estate and that he fell. The toxicology report showed he had no alcohol or drugs in his system. Carl was well loved, an army cadet, and had just enlisted in the Army or Air Force. He had recently gotten engaged to his long-term girlfriend. He truly had everything to live for. Thank you again for remembering and for speaking about it. It really means a lot, especially with so little available publicly.
    • Another recommendation for Roger. He came round promptly to inspect my loft as I was worried I had mice in there. He checked it thoroughly and found no evidence of pests, and refused to take any payment for the trouble of coming out! Thank you Roger!
    • you may not have met them - but you've seen them on the streets protesting outside hostels. You've seen them in the 30% support for Reform. You may not have met them, but they sure do exist
