free bike maintenance with hands-on tuition May 7th

Recommended Posts

This is just what it says. One of the guys from our regular summer Dr Bikes has decided they are so much fun he wants to do them all year round. So he's negotiated a deal with the Lettsom Tenants and Residents Association for the use of their hall (thanks Lettsom TRA) twice a month, every first and third Tuesday of the month from 6.30-8.30pm.

This is a drop-in, not a course, so you don't have to come every week or more than once if you don't want to. The guys will sort out your problem, showing you carefully what's happened and how you can put it right yourself if it happens again. More information including a full address and a map is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/free-bike-maintenance-with-hands-on-tuition/. For more info you can PM me here, email [email protected] or text 07842 640 207

As well as the Lettsom the sessions are sponsored by Southwark Cyclists -- we are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign https://lcc.org.uk/?ref=nav and like everything we do they are free and open to all.

    • What a passionate thread this is. I have worked in cycling for years, am a cyclist, a driver, use public transport etc. Driving last night with my two young kids, who also cycle, we made the same observations. It was the kids who first asked me why are most cyclists wearing full black and no lights. We then played a game who can spot all the cyclists, and count those with lights and those without. This teaches them to look out for them but also not to put themselves in a position where we have to strain to find them.
    • On the plus side showers are warm down - for now 😆
    • I don’t know it. Cyclists who chose not to follow advice? Does that extend to pedestrians who fail to follow advice too? Do you “Wear or carry something light-coloured, bright or fluorescent in poor daylight conditions” when walking? As advised by the Highway Code? It’s quite grey out today. If not, and you get hit by a car, should there be no reason for sympathy?
