free bike maintenance with hands-on tuition May 21st

Recommended Posts

This two-hour session is a drop-in not a course. It runs from 6.30-8.30pm is at the Lettsom Tenants Hall at 114 Vestry Road SE5 8PQ. What gets taught depends on what problems you bring through the door. The idea is to fix what's wrong while showing you what needs to be done and why so that next time you can consider tackling it yourself.

The sessions are sponsored by Southwark Cyclists and the Lettsom Tenants and Residents Association. The volunteers come through Southwark Cyclists plus a professional mechanic to help with the more esoteric problems. The Lettsom provides the space at a cut rate. You don't need to join anything or live on the Lettsom to take part -- it's all free and open to all.

The only tricky bit can be finding the hall which is tucked away in the estate. The best verbal description I've beem given is uphill past the shops and down an alley on the left. There's a picture of the hall here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/free-bike-maintenance-with-hands-on-tuition-2/

Southwark Cyclists are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which works for safer cycling in London. Everything we do is free and open to all. You can follow us on Twitter @southwarkcycle or for more info on these sessions you can text me on 07842 640 207

    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
