LT
My daughter (2 years 9 months) had emergency surgery a week ago to remove a blood clot from her spine. Her mobility has been reduced quite significantly and we are not sure how long she will be in hospital. However, we do know that she will need extensive physiotherapy over the coming weeks and months and that it will be a long road to recovery so we will need some help with our other 3 children. Their ages are 7.5, 5.5 and 7 months. The two older two are at school and we may be able to get them into the breakfast club and after school club at school so the baby is our main priority at the moment. We are looking into different possibilities - a nanny to look after all 3 and do all the school runs etc/ a childminder for just the baby/ a childminder to do drop offs and pick ups plus baby in the day/further down the line when our daughter is back at home possibly some 'mothers help' to free me up for some one to one physio etc. with my daughter. I would welcome any advice/recommendations etc? Thanks for reading. dulwichgirl2
Good grief. Sorry to hear of this. I have no great ideas but wanted to bump the post in the hope that someone helpful would come along. Again, sorry you have so much to cope with and hope your daughter's recovery proceeds well. Pugwash
Do you have a health visitor ( do they still exist) she (he) may be able to point you in some direction which canoffer suggestions. Some time ago before the massive cuts, a family aide could be provided by social services in some situations.Highly unlikely now. Fuschia
I am so sorry you are all going through this. How terrifying, and then to have to juggle the rest of your family while caring for your daughter in hospital. You must feel stretched in all directions. No personal contacts I am afraid but I noticed this ad:http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,860718 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22674-temporary-but-ongoing-childcare-needed-whilst-dd-is-in-hospitalrecovering/#findComment-534023 Share on other sites
