BoroWyke
Morning,I have recently moved onto Upland Road. I had British Gas round to quote for a new boiler. They said they could not install a combi because the water pressure is so low in my flat. When I use a tap or shower it is a poor flow. I have asked my neighbor and she has the same issue.Does anyone know if this is a general problem in the area and if there are any plans to upgrade the supplies/pipes to the houses?I suspect this is not going to be any easy or cheap issue to fix. Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/227932-poor-water-pressure-planned-upgrades/ Share on other sites
Penguin68
I would check with Thames Water - pressure is not high around here, but for most people sufficient for combi-boilers - so I suspect you and your neighbour (if you're in the same house) may have a specific problem with your supply. Thames Water can test and should remedy if this is so. ed_pete
Thames Water are supposed to guarantee a minimum of 1 bar pressure. Their code of practice says "As a guide, your first tap in your home, usually your cold kitchen tap, should be able to fill a 4.5 litre (1 gallon) bucket in 30 seconds with all the other taps and appliances turned off."https://www.thameswater.co.uk/-/media/Site-Content/Thames-Water/Help-and-Advice/Customer-Commitment/Codes-of-practice/Your-water.pdf Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/227932-poor-water-pressure-planned-upgrades/#findComment-1343681 Share on other sites
BoroWyke
Thanks @Ed-Pete and @Penguine68,My neighbour has a combi but still struggles with the pressure. An independent plumber, not Brit Gas, fitted it. Brit Gas said one might work in my flat but they would not fit it. I guess they do not want to be made liable for due to a veritable outside of their control.I will give Thames Water a call. I suspect the feed into the house meets their minimum service requirements so I will need to get the work done myself (by someone like Dyno). ruffers
You might want o look at a Meglaflo to up the pressure even if they could make a combi work.https://www.heatraesadia.com/products/cylinders-and-hot-water/unvented-cylinders Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/227932-poor-water-pressure-planned-upgrades/#findComment-1344062 Share on other sites
ed_pete
Not sure a Megaflow would make any difference. They're only as good as the incoming pressure/flow rate and the below site recommends a minimum of 1.5 bar & 20 l/mhttp://www.megaflo-unvented.co.uk/megaflo-installation.phpMaybe try calling Billy Hunter - he gets a lot of recommendations on this forum for boiler installations and as he works locally he may be able to suggest a solution to your low pressure.https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1321936,2031100#msg-2031100 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/227932-poor-water-pressure-planned-upgrades/#findComment-1344092 Share on other sites
