Painting techniques at artist?s studio - 2 - 4.30 pm Wednesdays

Recommended Posts

**************************************************************************************************************

I?m running Art classes for beginners & also people with some experience who would like to learn new techniques in painting at my light, airy studio in a converted Victorian school in East Dulwich.

I specialise in painting using a variety of water based media and collage and have exhibited with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and also the royal Watercolour society (but I don?t use traditional methods of watercolour painting!)

Classes are informal and friendly and are suitable for everyone aged 18 and over from complete beginners to those with some experience of painting who would like to be a bit more adventurous with their working methods. Classes can be tailored towards students? specific interests to a certain extent.

All classes are 2 and a half hours long and are held on weekdays (currently spaces available on wednesdays) and basic materials can be supplied if you don?t have your own. Classes cost ?25 each and taster sessions are available if you'd like to try it out and just pay on the day that class.

For more information and to see the sort of techniques that I can show you, have a look at my instagram feed https://www.instagram.com/studio.se22/ and to see my studio where classes are held, check out https://www.instagram.com/loft.location.londonse22/

or email me at [email protected] for dates and prices

Apologies for not having replied to everyone who has contacted me in the last couple of weeks - I've been out of the studio but will be in touch in the next few days.

Taster sessions will start very soon and will last 2 hours so do send a private message if you'd like to know more.

The first taster session will be on Wednesday 26th June from 2-4.30pm - ?25 to include watercolour paints, inks and pre-prepared paper - and refreshments.

If you are interested but cannot make this date, send a PM as I can arrange other dates subject to numbers.

It's definitely NOT a problem if you haven't done much or any painting before - the classes I run are very flexible and

I've taught many complete beginners. You can work at your own pace I can offer as much or as little help as you need. The classes are very small and friendly, too!

I have been to a couple of these classes and have found them really interesting and useful.

I never "did" art at school after I was about thirteen, so I have come to the classes as a complete beginner, and am looking forward to trying out the techniques at home (and going to more classes to learn more!)

Thanks for your review, Sue. If anyone else is interested, we currently have several beginners and a couple of people with some experience of painting, and everyone has produced some really great results. I tend to teach the sort of creative and inventive techniques that are suitable for all levels. Classes are continuing every Wednesday from 2-4.30 and it's possible to do a 'drop in' session and pay on the day, to see whether it's for you.

If you'd like to know more, please send a pm or give me a call on 07946577236

I'd also like to recommend these classes - I went to several in the summer and will be going back as soon as I can get Wednesday afternoons off again. They are really enjoyable and it's a friendly atmosphere, very welcoming.

Suzsi shows us lots of new techniques every week but is also happy for us to do our own thing if we prefer. It's also useful not to have to splash out on materials - she has lots of paints and unlimited amounts of paper for us. Her live and work studio is in an amazing space hidden away right in E Dulwich - it used to be an old church school and the light is great there.

    • Is  the  decision by the High Court not to  deport an Eritrean man  to France on Wednesday anything other than a massive boost for Farage and reform. Farage has made a commitment for the UK to exit the ECHR which limits the independence of our justice system The UK Government’s “one in, one out” has failed at the first hurdle - just as the Rwanda scheme did under the Tories. To make it even more embarrassing is that the accommodation for deportees   in Rwanda paid for by the UK is now being used by the USA for its deportees. If we are to have Farage thrust upon us as a result of such judicial decisions, then God help us.
    • I recently hired Andy to paint the newly plastered walls in my front room, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the start, he offered a fair and reasonable price for the work, and his professionalism really stood out. Andy has a wealth of experience and was happy to share suggestions about colour choices and paint types, which made the decision-making process much easier. He completed the work within the agreed timescale, and I am very happy with the finish.  What impressed me most is that Andy went above and beyond what I initially asked. He not only painted the room beautifully but also helped with extra tasks such as putting up the wall bracket, curtain poles, and curtains, and even gave me a hand moving furniture between rooms. That level of support is rare and very much appreciated. If you’re looking for a painter and decorator who is reliable, trustworthy, reasonably priced, experienced, and willing to go the extra mile to help, I would highly recommend Andy.
    • John recently skimmed the walls in our front room lounge, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. From start to finish, he was professional, punctual, and easy to work with.   He arrived on time each day and kept me updated on progress, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The quality of his plastering is smooth, even, and ready to paint with minimal prep. He takes real pride in his work.   John was also very tidy, laying down protective sheets and cleaning up thoroughly after the job was done. It’s clear he respects his clients’ homes, which I really appreciated.   On top of that, he’s friendly, approachable, and trustworthy someone you feel comfortable having in your home. His pricing was fair and transparent, with no unexpected costs.   Highly recommended if you're looking for a skilled and reliable plasterer. I’ll definitely be using him again for any future work.
