Building and handiman services

Recommended Posts

I cannot recommend highly enough Aston. With 24 hours notice he rescued are home from a plumbing nightmare. It required that is significant part of the kitchen was dismantled to allow access to drainage. He completed the initial part of the work, moving cabinets and ovens with a days notice. He returned immediately after the quite simple plumbing matter was resolved and rebuilt the kitchen. The quality of work was exceptional. I am already planning more projects for Aston to undertake.

I would like to add to the already extensive thread on Aston. I found him through EDF and having read such positive feedback, asked him to come and fix some roman blinds to my Victorian bay windows. I am really glad I did. He arrived on time and set about hanging my blinds. They were made to measure and unfortunately, I hadn't done a good job as they were a little out. However, Aston did a great job to make sure they fit and also that they hung straight. Given how old the building is, the window were a little crooked but he did a very neat job and they look absolutely wonderful. He made sure that I was happy with each blind he hung before moving on to the next one. He was also kind enough to help fix a door handle which required a bit of extra effort. He did a great job overall, was competitively priced and I would have no hesitation in asking him to help with other jobs. I do have a few more planned so will definitely be reaching out him!

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
