Hi

I'm sorry to hear this and hope you get the support you need.

Have you seen your GP? Perhaps they can offer counselling or something similar.

Or, do you work or know someone who works for a company with an Employee Assistance Programme, which offers free counselling? Lots of companies offer EAP's which offer support on all kinds of levels and you often do not have to be an employee of the organisation offering it (as lots do not or cannot check up on who calls for data protection or confidentiality reasons).

An EAP is basically a confidential advice service; you call up, speak to an operator and they put you through to a trained person who takes your details, listens to you, and then can put you in touch with a specialist within that particular field; in your case perhaps a relationship counsellor, in your area.

I recently left my job in HR and we had an EAP at the company.

Typically an EAP will offer up to 6 free sessions.

The EAP should have checked the counsellors credentials and ensure they are trained in relationship counselling, but it is worth checking yourself.

Alternatively I think if you look up BACP (British Association of Counselling something - I think this is still the body but have not checked for a few years), some members will offer reductions or free sessions based on income etc.

Perhaps someone on the forum can give you details of their EAP to use?

Good luck.

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
