social cycle ride Sat June 29th starts 9.30 Dulwich Park

Recommended Posts

This is one of the longer so-called Plus rides, starting at 9.30 and ending at 1pm. The idea is to make the rides longer so that those who want to cycle a bit further or learn new routes can do so. The rides are still easy-paced and as off-road as possible. Longer means longer not faster or more testing.

The ride starts at Dulwich Clock Cafe, Dulwich Park, SE21 7BQ and goes out via Peckham Rye Park and Beckenham Place Park. The return (to end back at the cafe) comes back via Crystal Palace Park, including the dinosaurs. The devisors of this route are really pleased with it. It's a nice mixture of off road path and quiet streets with very few bits of main road. And it uses the nicest stretch of Nat Route 21 from Catford to Bells Green ? off road and very green.

There will be time for a long loop around South Norwood Country Park ? even greener, and there may be trams. Crystal Palace Park has a new, enlarged, caf? where the group will stop for coffee. Then, rested and re-fueled, they will be ready for the stiff climb through the park, followed by the long downhill back to Dulwich. The route, complete with what looks to me like a pair of pants, is here:

This series of Saturday morning rides supplemented by occasional specials on Bank Holidays is run by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for more, safer cycling in London. Everything we do is free and open to all. Kids under 16 must bring an adult. • Sire you weren't around the back of the station where asking for a fag has a whole different connotation
    • Very grateful for any recommendations (not ads, please) of sleep consultants that anyone has used with success. On 5-6 wake ups a night with our son and needing some help to change things. Thank you!
    • Yes, should have given up by now but haven’t. Was waiting for my train yesterday and went into WHS on platform to buy a pack of fags. Almost feel to the floor when guy quoted me £28.00 for a packet of Silk Cut purple. Was a long day for me and thought I had totally misheard him! Asked again, only to be told that that was the price whuch is well over the odds..when I queried it as have bought, admittedly end of last year was told “ this is what management charges”. Surely this can’t be right…fags stayed in WHS paws while I bought some in Herne Hill at normal price. Still reeling over shock…..
    • I use the one in peckham where lidles is they are really good if you need somewhere closer
