Hiya

Looking for a swing class in or near east dulwich/camberwell ish? I have enquired at Hula Boogie/South London Pacific and I know about the ones at the Telegraph and Forest Hill but was hoping for something closer? (no car and paying expensive babysitter!). If there were day classes somewhere that would be even better to be honest!

If you want to try some jive, we hold drop in jive Classes on Monday nights upstairs at the Prince Regent (which is opposite Brockwell Lido) in Herne Hill. Classes start at 8pm and go for an hour and a half and cost a fiver.

We also hold free monthly clubs in South London where you can practice. Befriend us at diamondjive on Facebook for more information on our bimonthly clubs.

Do forgive the johnny-come-lately reply but we're just about to start the new round of Beginners lessons at The Telegraph this Wednesday (Telegraph Hill: in the Peckham/Nunhead/New Cross area), just to give you yet another choice in the neighbouhood. I've attached the flyer below (well, the last flyer, anyway ;) which has all the location and price info ) but just drop me a line to: [email protected] if you have any questions.

    • As the days shorten having evening fireworks for e.g. birthday parties becomes more realistic, the idea that fireworks is only about Guy Fawkes day or New Year's Eve is not a rule. I personally do not like fireworks, but other do, and I would see no reason to stop other's pleasure. I am sure the local Puritans will object, and there are issues about disturbing wild life with unexpected noise. But I'm in favour of simple pleasures. And many do like fireworks.

    • Most churches rent out halls for children's' parties but rarely adult parties, Christ Church only does afternoon parties,   The East Dulwich Community centre hires out halls to 9 pm only and all music needs to be on a sound restrictor as is in a residential area. St Johns with St Clements have a small hall but not sure if they allow adult parties. Nunhead Green has a newish community centre with a couple of different size halls. Most places seem to charge around £40 ph  with a deposit of £100/200 (returned if no damage or excess cleaning needed.
