My Dad had his bike stolen today from outside the IYOUALL shop on East Dulwich Road. That Scandie homewares one next to 999 beauty near to Anetos.

Nicked by a white kid, about 12-14 years old. He rode off on it and his two mates, black kids, got on the bus.

It?s my Dad?s only form of transport and he doesn?t have the funds to replace it

The bike is VERY distinctive - if you see it crashed anywhere or offered for sale anywhere please, please, please get in touch.

No need for such sarc. think the question should have been "was it locked?"

Good luck in getting it back. Perhaps it was dumped locally - we put posters up on lamp posts when some yooffs nicked our daughters, it was found in a hedge and the police picked it up, but we were informed by someone who saw the poster.

It's a lovely bike but I doubt worth much second hand - you can try the criminal's market place Gum Tree - I can use this description as my stolen bike was sold on this, being put up the evening it was nicked. Barstools. But that was taken by a 'professional' rather than an opportunist.

Did you get the security details etched by the police (whatever the scheme is called) - all mine are, but apologies if that is shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

I share you pain. It is so personal. The only people I hate more than the thieves is the rrrrssss who buy stolen bikes most likely knowing they are knock off.

And note a very limited description.

The genuine stuff on e bay will give lots on the provenance, reasons for sale etc. I'm of course not saying the one in the ad is nicked but I wouldn't go near it.

    • It has come to this author’s attention that the world of 4+ admissions — that most enigmatic of educational rites — continues to bewilder even the most composed of parents. Fear not. For in a former life, I was not merely a humble observer, but a seasoned educator of over twenty years, and Head of Pre-Prep for a distinguished dozen. Now, with quill exchanged for touchscreen, I have taken to that most modern of salons — Instagram — to dispense guidance, answer frequently whispered questions, and illuminate the shadowy corners of school selection with clarity and calm. Each post bears my signature twist: a blend of insight, levity, and the occasional raised eyebrow. Should you find yourself adrift in the sea of admissions, I suggest you peruse my latest dispatch. • Perhaps Gooseygreeny was not familiar with the wildlife before Gala was imposed on the park, since when its value to wildlife has deteriorated. The Park had never been disturbed before, as the council had respected it as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, so only the Common was licensed by them as a site for events. The first time Gala held their event, there was a tree with woodpeckers nesting in it right in the middle of the main field they used and thrushes, blackbirds and great tits nesting within the shrubs and trees immediately surrounding the field. The woodpeckers were thriving on ants from the anthills in the grass. To those of us who used to enjoy watching the wildlife, it was very obviously a Site of Importance for a variety of birds. Despite being accessed by the public and their dogs, it had been relatively undisturbed,  which was one of the main reasons why it was so special and why I have been opposed to the Gala festival being held during the bird nesting season.
