My 8yr old tabby cat Magic went missing from Brookstone Court on Monday night after falling out of my 3rd floor window onto tarmac whilst I was out with my dog so he would be injured. He?s neutered but not microchipped as he?s never wanted to go out. He?s got a distinctive white stripe on his face from his mouth to eyebrows that looks like an upside down question mark. He?s very friendly. Has anyone seen/found him?

My friend's cat fell from a second floor window onto tarmac - he then found the nearest place where he could safely hide and stayed there.

I don't think your cat will have gone very far at all - they are very clever at finding hiding places. He's probably not only shocked and hurt from the fall, but also afraid because he's in an unfamiliar environment, if he's not used to going out. I would think it's most likely that he's lying low nearby. My friend's cat was missing for some time, but hadn't left the estate. He was found hiding in a flower bed. He wasn't injured.

Thank you. I?ve been searching the area plus checking with vets, places like Battersea cats n dogs home, RSPCA etc and a vet receptionist suggested posting on here. Also put up posters and getting everyone I can ask to keep an eye out for him as well.. even taking his sister out in the pet carrier cos they?re normally inseparable n got told that might work but nothing tet

One of our cats was injured whilst exploring a garden at the back of us, she found herself trapped under some loose bricks but managed to crawl into our neighbour's garden where we found her the next day. Unfortunately had broken all the toes in one of her hind legs and ended up having her leg amputated. Was quicker on 3 legs than had been on 4. Lived until she was around 15 but had to be put down due to cancer.

Whereabouts is Brookstone Court - I know I have seen it but cannot place it.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
