Any groups out there or just other mums willing to join me? Have started power walking (well my version of!) as I am not able to run at the moment. Feel VERY silly doing it while all the runners pass me by and also not sure I am doing it right.

If you have done a course and can give me some pointers let me know. Have looked at online videos but not sure about my speed or technique.

If you know of any iphone apps that can accurately track calories/speed etc let me know. I use isteps and it said my last 40m walk burned over 400 calories which is not possible!

I did get imapmywalk just wondering how it calculates the speed etc. I used to have a nike+ sensor in my shoes (which works Nike+) but stupidly washed the shoes so sensor is now dead

and if memory serves you are plenty fast Molly I would not be able to keep up with you running!

imap works on a GPS, so it tracks speed, calories, pace per minute or per mile (or kilometre) etc.

I get on with it pretty well, and if you go to the actual website you can see a calendar showing your workouts over the month, total calories to date over the year and the month etc. which is all very inspiring.

It also emails me if I don't work out for a week or so saying something about 'don't let is slip' etc. etc. which always makes me gulp in fear and get going again!!

    • Is this a popular event? If great demand for this sort of event on such a small space then so be it. It is just with Peckham Common so very close by just wondering why this is considered a preferable venue for this kind of thing?
    • Another recommendation for Jason who is brilliant all-round. He plastered our rooms and hallways (some walls were blown and needed re-boarding), replaced two ceilings and over-boarded one. From the start he was always communicative, happy to pop by to assess first, and transparent about the various options and their associated costs. He worked thoroughly, going above and beyond to make sure every job was finished to a high standard and is very fairly priced, particularly considering the hours he puts in. We’re so pleased with the results of our flat and have already recommended him unreservedly to others. Also helps that he is just a sound guy who’s really easy to chat to!
    • Well let’s put it this way - certainly alot more alert when I am in town than I use to be . Don’t feel unsafe just a lot more cautious and aware of my surroundings.  Tend to avoid walking anywhere in town as in London or Dulwich etc when it gets dark. Personal choice and certainly more people muttering or talking to themselves than before. Witnessed road rage years ago on Ladbrook Grove in broad daylight - memory still haunts me!!
