Is this a known danger spot? I crossed yesterday morning about 11am and got screamed at by a motorbiker as his tyres smelled of burnt rubber. Today a friend of mine just rang me to say he nearly ran me over at the same place. Of course I checked the road. I'm scared to cross the road again tomorrow in case it is 3rd time unlucky...
Do you mean the junction of Friern Road (where 12 buses stand) with Lordship Lane? Did you try and cross using the island? This can be dicey as cars coming round the bend from The Grove do tend to speed. Best bet to walk down to lights outside Dulwich Library.

One of the big problems is cars accelerating from the lights at the Plough towards Forest Hill - especially the boy racers who go into the (left-turn only) bus lane alongside the Plough. Instead of turning left into Barry Road, they accelerate from the lights to get past the queue of cars in the right hand lane. By the time they get to Friern Road, they're already in 3rd/4th gear, doing 40 on Lordship Lane.

Not sure how you stop them, others than cameras at the lights and along Lordship.

This also happened to me, a speeding motorbike came round the corner towards the Library(south to north)and I actually had to turn back or it would have hit me.

That stretch could do with some kind of crossing or obvious speed cameras to deter this.

There are two bus stops between the library and Underhill Road crossings, but no safe route to get to them without walking down to either of those crossings.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
