Tried a new way to cook cauliflower which is great - no more soggy tasteless cauliflower.

Break one head of cauli into florets - place in tray. Sprinkle with four tablespoons of mixed olive oil & lemon juice. Add plenty of ground pepper & salt. Roast at 200c for 25 - 30 mins. Grate some Parmesan over and serve. It looks fantastic and tastes better.

Cheers MM

It's a great way to serve "Cauli"

I've just eaten the above dish (served with slow braised Osso Bucco and butter beans)

Absolutely loved it too. I grated the Parmesan over first and then again when I served it

A light dusting with fresh flat leaf & a glug of excellent olive oil

Joy of joy

Excellent - thanks! If you change the title of this thread to "Useful cooking tips" it could be good. Whether you do or don't here's another one I learned: For cheese sauce, cover grated cheese in a heaped tablespoon of cornflour and mix it up so the cheese is well covered. Then put the lot into the warm water or milk, and stir till it thickens. It tastes better and won't go lumpy. Now you can do the cauliflour cheese!

Roasted cauliflower is excellent but not a new dish. Think it has come over from North America. I've been doing it for over 3 years, along with roasted sweet potatoes and sprouts. Tonight I did roasted mushrooms, in olive oil, garlic and white wine. I find it easier to toss the vegetables in a bowl with olive oil and whatever spices you are using and then put in oven. They are more evenly coated that way.

    • Hello everyone, We have lost our wonderful moggie, Cookie.  She's been missing for over a week now and was lost around the back of our house on rail track land around Croxted Road/Turney Road junction. Please do keep an eye out for her and if you see her please let us know urgently as she isn't familiar with the area at all, we are very worried.  She has a microchip (with my brother's contact details) She's black with ginger/brown markings, very distinctive. If you have had sightings of her or seen her at anytime please let do let me know, Henna 07941 047094 If you could post on your local/street groups too, I'd be very grateful. Thank you!
