I've heard people speaking deeply and meaningfully about the Olympic torch landing in the UK and what it supposedly means. People will run around the country holding it up. How is this important and what's the point? Listening to some comments I've almost thought wow, this is big. Then I thought, it's just someone running around holding a torch. If it does symbolise something worthwhile isn't it whatever that is that's important? Not that I'm saying it is important. Whatever it is. What do you think?

It serves the same purpose as this.

It makes you feel big and clever when somewhere deep down you can?t shake this niggling feeling that you?ve just paid more than you can afford for something that isn?t going to change your life in any way.

    • Smallish job, would suit a sole trader rather than a Lordship Lane Carpets type company...
    • Sorry this just didn’t seem to belong to request a tradesperson. any good experiences? Not a chiropodist!
    • Crofton Park (borough of Lewisham) has a community notice board which as well as listing councillors is full of notices about local community activities of all sorts and for all ages. It is clean and tidy and only has one small fly poster (attached with one very small piece of tape, and easily removed - I didn't though). Crofton Park also has a lovely little community garden alongside the station, full of flowers, with lots of things of interest to kids,  and also obviously lovingly maintained. I don't know who the land belongs to - possibly the station, though access is via the adjoining road. If Lewisham council/Crofton Park residents can maintain a community notice board, why can't Southwark Council/East Dulwich residents?
