Sewing / knitting alterations

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a local business where I can get some clothes mended? Specifically it?s a zip that needs replacing on a hooded top, the wool in my fingerless mittens has come undone around the thumbs, and I need some stitching to the seem of a top which I am reluctant to throw out. All pretty basic stuff, I just can?t use a sewing machine (not that I own one!) I can visit a shop up in town, I just thought it would good to support a local business or entrepreneur in the area. Thank you in advance!

I think the dry cleaners on the road to East Dulwich station does repairs.

They used to have a sewing machine in the window and maybe still have (unless I'm mixing them up with another dry cleaners, but I don't think so).

ETA: Or you could ask in Really Maria, the fabric/haberdashery shop near Goose Green roundabout?

    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
