I can't do that thing of paying ?1 for a Which? trial to read it online, as the page keeps crashing when I try..

It's actually pretty hard to access any child car seat safety reviews online! (as opposed to consumer reviews) I have searched and searched! Have I gleaned correctly that the Kiddy car seats with the impact bar rather than the 5 point harness have come out top of safety tests in the last couple of years?

Which of their seats specifically does anyone know? The infinity pro, the guardian pro etc?

If there is a traditional 5 point harness seat (britax evolva etc) that tops the safety tests, I would also like to know which one too...thanks for any info

Sorry, I can't help with access to Which? (but that ?1 thing drives me mental as well, especially as they make it SO difficult to unsubscribe before taking further payments - grrr) but I think basically that the whole Kiddy system has been proven safer than the 5 point harness system by some way.

We have the Infinity and that came top in the year we bought it - must have been 2010 - but I'm not sure if the league tables will have changed much since then? We're very happy with ours, and I particularly love how easy it is to sling into friends' and family's cars when they've needed it.

Yes, the kiddy system is safer especially in side-on impacts which most are, and also prevents whiplash injuries as the shoulders are not restricted. I seem to remember also reading somewhere that a high percentage of car seats are incorrectly installed which affects safety but the kiddy doesn't have that issue. We've got the one that goes up to age 12 (can't remember if it's the infinity or guardian) and we're very happy with it. I did loads of research into car seats when buying last year, and basically these were by far the safest forward-facing car seats available on the market. Have a look on YouTube, I think some of the which? Videos are on there.

What are people's views on the kiddy system vs an isofix 5 point harness? I have an isofix now but need the next seat up and feel isofix looks safer as it's a fixed seat but kiddy comes top in which. Any advice? I just can't make my mind up!!
We have the kiddy guardian pro isofix - http://www.groovystyle.co.uk/productpages-new/kiddy/guardianfix-pro.php - so the seat is attached to the car with an isofix connection then you use the seatbelt to secure the lap resraint. I like it because my (then) 2 yr old was slipping his shoulders out of the shoulder part of the 5 point harness however tight I did it up - this feels much safer. I have to say though - I know it is supposedly suitable for group 1 age - BUT I've put my 15m old in it and he HATES the lap restraint and looks super uncomfortable. We got when our eldest was 2 3/4 and it's been great for him. It's slightly odd when he sleeps in it as often he literally is face down on the lap restraint!

    • Two wrongs don't make a right. Labour ran on a manifesto of "we aren't like them" and "we are different" and"you can trust us/we will restore faith in politics". They are doing nothing to convince anyone that any of those promises are being met - they are letting everyone down. u-turning on everything and are fast-tracking the doomsday scenario of a Reform government. Even the runway on the "it's all the Tories fault" is running out. I dislike politicians because they cannot be trusted and Rayner just highlighted that with ribbons on. She should have been so careful after the focus on the electoral roll issues she had with the house in Ashton-under-Lyne and then under a year later this comes up. Clearly the advice she took included a recommendation to take proper advice that she failed to do - that's just daft and the most galling thing is that she didn't just resign when this came up - she tried to spin out of it but must have known she was toast. Trust is fast being eroded. I desperately want Labour and Starmer to fix this because the alternative it too scary to think about but the way things are going they are fast-tracking Farage into No.10. Labour are letting us all down.
    • Same can be said for the current and prior governments
    • Good afternoon, We are looking for a gardener to tidy up our climbing rose. It is very high, so the work will require someone with a tall ladder. can you please recommend anyone?  thanks s
    • So you are also old enough to remember the Heath Out protest by the TUC when unemployment hit 1 million? We all have selective memories, this thread is no different. Please give me a list of the Labour sleaze. And compare it to the Tories.  There are a few of you who appear to have a long term dislike of Labour, so all this is a gift.
