The two-hour, easy-paced loop starts and finishes at Dulwich Clock Cafe in Dulwich Park SE21 7BQ. It's free to join and open to all. Last time riders took this Dulwich - Crystal Palace loop it was snowing. The weather is more than usually unpredictable at the moment but I hope we can rule out snow.

The route starts with a peaceful trundle downhill to Peckham Rye Park, over the hill at Nunhead and down to the Waterlink Way at Ladywell Fields. The Waterlink Way (aka National Route 21) is off-road along the River Ravensbourne and very pretty. The group follow it for nearly two miles to Lower Sydenham.

They continue on quiet streets to Cator Park followed by a loop through Penge to Crystal Palace Park. There's no disguising that Crystal Palace Park includes a hill. There will be time to check out the dinosaurs, then further on up to Crystal Palace Parade. This bit is steep in places, but there will be plenty of time to walk stretches and anyone who chooses to get off and push will not be alone.

The reward for all that huffing and puffing will be a delightful run downhill back to Dulwich park. Amanda will be leading and the route is here:

These rides are organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. Like everything else we do they are free and open to all. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk. The LCC website is here: https://lcc.org.uk/?ref=nav. You can email us on [email protected], tweet us @southwarkcycle or text me on 07842 640 207. Enjoy.

    • Not only can he turn olive oil into Vermouth, but also water into a wine. A true miracle worker.  I wouldn't say a wine shop sells a wide variety of things - and there are two right next to each other.  And once upon a time, upmarket pizza shops were very specific. So were burritos etc. They're clearly becoming mainstream; we should consider ourselves lucky to be witnessing this exciting upward trend within our lifetimes and on OUR HIGH STREET. We can tell our grandkids that we remember when there was no internet and no empanadas.  I'm sure that if the family empanada people have a good business head, they'll be able to ride this wave of competition, just like Bruno has.
    • Very economical. Are you available for events? I've got a gathering of 5000 coming up soon. What could you knock up with two little fishes and five loaves of bread? Cod in breadcrumbs? Fish finger sandwiches? Spanish-style croquetas de bacalao with a Romesco sauce? It's BYOB for beer, so there's no need to worry about that and I've managed to do an unbelievable deal on water and wine. Drop me a DM on here or ask for Dave or Jesus (pronounced 'Hay-Zooze') in The Herne, left hand side of the bar.
