Amazon scam

Just had a recorded call purporting to be from Amazon saying my account had been hacked and now press 1 blah blah. Checked with Amazon and it's yet another scam. Just adds that little extras spice of worry to one's day

I dont even leave my card number on amazon anymore to be safe.

My o/h received a similar call today also. If you google it you will see it's quite common currently.

When I get these phone calls I always Google the number.

There are several websites which will tell you if the number is spam.

Then I keep it in my contacts as "spam" so I know not to answer it in the future.

ETA: The last one I got was one of those accident calls. I was sitting in a hospital waiting room at the time.

To my eternal regret, I didn't string them along ("Oh how strange, I'm in hospital at the moment as it happens". Lol.)
