This is a ride to Trinity Buoy Wharf, Docklands exciting creative quarter http://www.trinitybuoywharf.com. Most exciting at night when riders won't be there (see pic) but still worth a journey. Trinity Buoy Wharf is the site of London's only lighthouse, (sadly doesn't work anymore). The site is a exhibition, art studio and office complex made from recycled sea shipping containers and former naval buildings, hence the name of "Container City".

There's small museum about Michael Faraday who was scientific adviser to Trinity House (the body which runs lighthouses) and did many of his experiments on electricity here. The Wharf is a lovely spot for or a coffee break and a nose around.

The ride starts and finishes at Deal Porter Square, next to Canada Water Library, opposite Canada Water Station. The station is on the overground. There's walk-on access at East Dulwich Station and then across the platform at Peckham Rye. Lifts at Canada Water Station take three bikes. If you want to cycle there's a map here: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/131783. I've started it from East Dulwich Station but you can change it to somehwere more convenient to you -- or join it in Rye Lane.

The group will set off at 9.30am and cross river by Greenwich Foot tunnel, then up through the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf. They will probably loop down to Barrier Park and take in Trinity on the way back. The return is via Tower Bridge. All told that's about 16 miles, so there will be plenty time for an easy-paced ride and a break. The aim is to finish at 1pm. Amanda will be leading.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
