Can no longer justify the rent I'm required to pay for a one bedroom flat here in beautiful dulwich, so am hitting the road.

where is nicer(greener, community feel, nice shops):

Catford: forest hill: sydenham: crystal palace?

Where is cheaper (rent-wise)?

Plus any suggestions you may have of areas. want to stay using the oyster(bus/tube), so not trains.

cheers

Out of those I'd say that Crystal Palace is the nicest, and has the biggest "town centre" with pubs, restaurants, etc. If I was looking for a slightly cheaper area, that would be my choice. Catford really isn't great IMO.

If you want to stay close to ED then Honor Oak and Nunhead are nearby. Nunhead seems to be more "up-and-coming", but I think Honor Oak is more pleasant. The Denmark Hill part of Camberwell is really nice too, but probably only very slightly cheaper than ED.
