Problem with posting to forum - can anybody help?

Recommended Posts

Lemmy has messaged me asking me to post this on the forum as s/he is unable to post.

Can anybody help?

S/he has messaged Admin but hasn't had a reply. S/he is using Windows and Firefox, but is getting this message when s/he tries to post:

A form was submitted in the windows-1252 encoding which cannot encode all Unicode characters, so user input may get corrupted.

To avoid this problem, the page should be changed so that the form is submitted in the UTF-8 encoding either by changing the encoding of the page itself to UTF-8 or by specifying accept-charset=utf-8 on the form element. posting.php

I use Windows and firefox without problem. Has s/he tried running antivirus and malware programme to check her message and system are clean of viruses? Maybe a troublesome cookie has queered the pitch? Not a computer whizz but I find doing a scan at my end can make a difference sometimes. Otherwise maybe others have had a similar message?

We think it's something to do with some code on the site when using macOS with Firefox or Chrome, I forgot to get back to Lemmy about it but when someone here at Forum HQ gets a chance they will look into it.

    • Naaah, it's rubbish - it would be a change of use so would need planning. https://www.planningdirect.co.uk/planningappeals/affordable-planning-applications/change-of-use/commercial-to-takeaway-change-of-use There's not enough footfall for a McDonalds, anyway, and they're quite picky about their sites
    • So let's never do anything that might improve an area, because it will just be dragged down to the level of what's presently there? Is that what you are saying? I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.
