The estate at the end of Thorncombe/ Trossachs Road has a small access road with a dozen or so parking spaces (I am talking about the estate that constitutes Arnhem Way, Velde Way, etc)

On Google maps, this road is shown as an extension of Thorncombe Road. The road has an entrance barrier but I have never seen that closed in c.20 years. And there is no sign to say private parking

Does anybody know the official status of these parking spaces ? ? are they public road/spaces or are they, in some way, reserved for residents of the estate? I think they are mainly used by estate residents but, I do see people who live in nearby roads (like me) parking there sometimes ?I think many people assume that it is private parking for the estate and don?t use them.

The reason I?m interested in this is that I?ve just looked at the plans for the new CPZ. All surrounding roads are to be controlled, but that piece is not covered. If it is actually public parking, Southwark Council may well have dropped a clanger

It's a Southwark Council Housing maintained road - paid for by rent/freehold payment from the home owners there.

I do not believe formal parking resections exist other than the gate which could be locked at any time if the council was more organised.

Similar exists the other wise of East Dulwich Grove running alongside the railway line.

So not resident only then - as long as one's prepared to risk being closed in by a barrier that's - to my knowledge - never been used in the last 25 years?

Looks like that'll be hotly fought over parking for the Alleyns teachers once the CPZ is in force then.

    • This is the point, this is an increasingly large scale event in the wrong location.
    • So Boris Johnson goes on an unhinged rant about the deal using violent gimp imagery (an image repeated by other brexiteers), and I comment on it but it’s MY language you are policing? how come it’s not Johnson and his language you  are commenting on?
    • Is there anyone who does face painting who would be available to come to a children’s party next Sunday 25 May from 11-12ish? It’s a Frozen theme- about 10 kids or so. Please get in touch with more details and an idea of price if so. Many thanks
    • Nope that concern predates the Jerk festival.  But I am talking about when I first moved to SE London and some locals complained that the nice music was too loud. Separately some people are still moaning about the Jerk festival,  Felt some comments were (casual) racist, but that is a different subject matter. That day was great,  A victim of its own success. A kin to Fatboy Slim playing a free festival on Brighton beach, tens of thousands went but it took a long long time to clean up.
