Based in Herne Hill/North Dulwich, we are a friendly family looking for a nanny/housekeeper to help with our happy 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son and our dog - approximately 30 hours per week plus regular overtime.

We are a relaxed family and want someone who will have lots of fun with our children. We are still in contact with our former nannies who would be happy to recommend us!

You must be caring, trustworthy and reliable. Your key duties will involve picking up our children from school and taking them to various after school activities and helping with homework, sports and arts and crafts activities - which are within walking distance or a short bus ride away. You must also like dogs and enjoy walking her, she usually joins the school run plus park trips.

You will need to nurture our children, keep them safe, make their days fun within a structured, creative and safe environment, prepare healthy food and keep the house tidy.

We do also have a regular cleaner but the daily housework includes: keeping the house tidy and clean, keeping the children?s toys in order, washing, ironing, folding and putting away all washing, emptying and stacking the dishwasher, cleaning the floor and general tidying up. This also includes supermarket and online shopping for the family shop. There is also sometimes some ad hoc help needed at our office/studio to receive packages or help with tidying up.

The hours are guaranteed 30 hours a week usually 1.30-7 every day with one nights babysitting per week (usually a Wednesday but this can change and isn?t always needed). With additional regular paid overtime particularly over school holidays and half term. Although we can be flexible about hours with the right candidate.

During term time our current nanny starts at 1 or 1.30 and does housework/preparation until 3 and then collects the children and looks after them until 7. During the holidays the hours are longer - 8.30-7 approximately 4 days over the week, although we can be flexible about the hours.

Ideally we?d like someone who lives locally. You must be a non-smoker, have good English and be energetic and resourceful, experienced in childcare and good references.

If this sounds of interest please send your CV with a covering letter including your home address and phone number. We look forward to hearing from you.

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
