I had a teacher once, called Miss English.

All tweed twin-set and salt & pepper hair. She had a little dog that she kept in her car, you could see it out of the class room window

She'd walk the scruffy little thing (which come to thing about it, matched her hair) whilst having a fag

"Read out loud until I come back" she'd rasp

Once back in the room, stinking of smoke she'd announce something random or other about the war

My favourite being " I had an affair with Hitler, you know ! "

I was fascinated and repulsed in equal measure by her

    • Purse with cash and cards (including photo card) found in road local to East Dulwich Tabernacle. It will be here (107 Barry Road) all day (Sunday 21 December) if you want to collect or PM me.  In case some one else who knows R Howard, please alert her.    Thank you
    • Thanks Sue.  No the car just drove on.  We don't know if they noticed.  We were driving behind.  We were just glad we could be with the cat, and take him to the vet, rather than leaving him there 😞
    • Certainly the infamous (and mythical) SE London cat killer turned out to be foxes attacking dying and dead cats injured by cars, but fox: cat encounters do appear to happen, even where cats are victorious. Fox: adult humans less so. At least where foxes are the aggressors.
    • That was very kind of you to take the cat to the vet. Did the car not stop?
