As of my post https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,2091004

Was supposed to close Monday night but was still open last night Tues 21st Jan

There were a few suits in there late last night and was told last night WAS their lat night.

DulwichFox

Spoke to the Son who works in there most nights.

I know him very well from Football Millwall supporter.

He categorically denies they (Kebab and Wine ) are closing

He said "No, The Chicken shop is closing. Not Us. "

Chicken shop has now gone.

So I don't know what's happening or where people have got the info that the Lease is up for sale..?

Place has gone down the pan recently.

Foxy

Yep, they own the place and they are leasing it out as they want a break as it?s been a family business more or less since it opened.

    • I know a couple whose twelve year old son drowned in an overcrowded swimming pool on a day when no lifeguard was there. This was a long time ago, but maybe just be thankful that these days more safety measures are in place, however inconvenient they may be for some people?
    • I imagine they also legally have a limited number of people they can have in the pool at any one time, so if it was just a case of turn up and swim, there would likely be people turned away after they might have cleared part of their day to swim.
    • There is now two threads on this. I am really struggling to understand why people have such issues with booking their swim.  Most things in life now require prebooking whether for leisure or not.  Do the same people find booking a table at a resturant or a seat at the cinema just as annoying?  We are very lucky to have 3 local swimming pools.  Since the booking system was introduced I personally find the expeience so much better. If you book you are guaranteed a swim at the time you want in the length you want.  Yes you have to be organised for Dulwich but some of the other pools are never full.
    • "Only those obsessed with the idea of efficiency (at the expense of humanity) can applaud a 100% bookable system. It stinks of top-down bureaucracy and goes against how most people want to live their lives. (Specific needs (preferences, really) can still be accommodated with a booking/set aside system but a totalitarian approach just isn’t realistic or human)" WOW - this seems a bit extreme.  Most things in life you need to book. Yes it can be a bit of a pain but thats the way it is.  You could try the other pools in the area- we are very lucky to have 3 + pools in our area
