Next door/post

Is it worth me complaining? I ask for advice. This morning, amongst the rubbish blown around next door's front garden where the wind had overturned their recycling bin, I saw a letter addressed to me. With a cheque in it, which makes it worse.

I knocked on their door then, being a little cross, but no-on in.

Now, after reflection, I think that anyone who can't be bothered to trudge the 6 or 7 yards to my door, won't be impressed by my complaining to them

Are you sure it had been in their recycling bin? Could the postie not have dropped it?

ETA: Had the letter been opened?

Not opened, but over a month old which rules out the postman though, (of course) it would have helped if he'd put it through the right door to start with

complain to the Post Office. A postie once just chucked our mail including bank statements on to the front door mat. We complained and it didn't happen again.
