free bike maintenance with hands-on tuition March 2nd

This is the place to bring your old bike to prepare for the outdoors in the spring. The weather forecast between now and next week is pretty filthy but by March 2nd it looks lovely. The guys have the time, the inclination and (most importantly) the expertise to fix bikes, no matter how age and spider-encrusted they may be. They like challenges (ancient and modern) so bring yours along.

These are indoor drop-in sessions, run by Bruno and friends in Camberwell Leisure Centre (Artichoke Place SE5 8TS)(see pic). The leisure centre is warm, free and welcoming and the guys are the same. They are pretty much self-organising under the umbrella of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk which is part of the London Cycling Campaign https://lcc.org.uk. Our calendar is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/free-bike-maintenance-with-hands-on-tuition-17/

No need to book. If you have any questions about this or any other Southwark cycling-related matter, you can email [email protected], tweet @southwarkcycle or text me on 07842 640 207. I probably won't know the answer but I will know a man who does.

    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
